not really. if you remember the previous episode sasori attacked both of them. chiyo can dodge and control sakura at the same time.

He has to get close to her since the puppet users are weak at close ranged combat, but since he's a puppet user himself he has to keep a distance from her. So it's directly the 3rd kazekage VS Sakura.

If team gai just lure their opponents and swap to each other. They have higher chance of beating them faster.

Or just use each other fights in the battle not their own. Also is possible to use something that they never have used before in their fights.
